Relaxation Massage
When I say Relaxation Massage, most people have a pretty good idea of what I’m talking about.
Dim room.
Massage table.
Nice music.
Maybe you fall asleep and start snoring halfway through… 😂
But relaxation massage is actually a little more than just “having a nice massage.”
And no — you don’t need to be injured, sore, broken, stressed beyond belief or have a specific reason to book one.
Sometimes “I just need an hour to myself” is reason enough.

Continue below for a more in depth look at what this modality is and what it can do for you.

We spend so much of our lives switched ON.
Work. Family. Kids. Appointments. Phones. Notifications. Thinking about what we need to do tomorrow while we’re still trying to get through today.
And sometimes we don’t actually realise how much tension we’re carrying until someone puts their hands on our shoulders and we suddenly think…
“Ohhhh… apparently I was holding those up around my ears.”
That’s where relaxation massage comes in.

Unlike remedial massage, where I might be specifically targeting an area that’s causing you pain or dysfunction, relaxation massage is less about “let’s find the problem and fix it” and more about…
Just. Letting. Your. Body. Stop.
The movements are generally slower, flowing and calming. We can still work on areas that feel tight — I'm not going to completely ignore that giant knot in your shoulder — but the overall intention of the treatment is relaxation.
And I think sometimes we underestimate just how important that is.
You do not have to earn rest.
You don't need to wait until you're completely burnt out before deciding your body deserves an hour of care.
And you certainly don't need to feel guilty for lying on a massage table doing absolutely nothing.
In fact, for that hour, doing absolutely nothing is your only job.

If you fall asleep — wonderful.
If you spend the first 20 minutes talking and then suddenly go completely silent — also wonderful.
If you walk out feeling like your arms and legs have turned into noodles and you're wondering whether you're actually capable of driving home — I've done my job.
And if the only thing you achieved during your massage was one whole hour where nobody needed anything from you…
I've done my job.

Relaxation massage doesn't need to be complicated.
Sometimes your body isn't asking you to fix something.
Sometimes it's just asking you to stop.
